Nevada is facing its annual shield-backed katydid infestation.  These insects have a nasty habit of swarming homes and causing problems for local farmers.  Though they aren’t true crickets, the shield-backed katydid bears the nickname “Mormon Cricket” due to their famous invasion of the early saints of the Church of Jesus Christ in Salt Lake City during the mid Nineteenth Century.

Viewers are mostly reacting negatively to the painting across social media, many of them comparing the red color to blood.
